Environmental Specialist

The Planner/Environmental Specialist leads projects that help to preserve, protect and restore our natural environment. This position works on a variety of environmental plans, projects and grants to strengthen the region’s resilience to flooding and other natural hazards, improve water quality/soil health, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Approximately 50% of the position will be dedicated to watershed management authority support, flood prevention, and water quality improvement projects. This position reports to the Environmental Services Director. The ideal candidate will have a master's degree in environmental science, planning or related field; however, we encourage individuals with different education and experience backgrounds to apply. Three or more years of experience working in an environmental field is required. Success in the position will require strong written and verbal communication skills; comfort interacting with a wide range of stakeholders including elected officials and farmers; flexibility; attention to detail; the ability to manage several projects simultaneously; and the motivation to organize and complete projects with limited oversight.
