Southern Iowa Council of Governments (SICOG) is seeking a Regional/Transportation

Planner for SICOG’s organization and the Regional Planning Affiliation (RPA).


The agency is the area's Regional Planning Organization, and fosters collaboration

between governments, civic organizations, and the business community on diverse

regional transportation, land use, environmental, and economic development challenges.

SICOG seeks a self-motivated generalist planner with multi-tasking capabilities to assist

in land use and transportation programs.

PLANNING DUTIES: Provide general comprehensive and current planning,

development plans, zoning ordinances, technical assistance to governments, grant

writing, grant management, and data base maintenance to member governments.


Provide administrative support for the Technical and Policy Committees. Work with

federal, state and local agencies to organize the transportation planning process within the

area boundaries.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Grant writing, data collection and analyses, report writing,

mapping, meeting preparation and presentations, contact with local governments,

business interests, the public and consultants. Complete and coordinate the work

programs. Maintain the Transportation Improvement Programs. Work on Short and Long

Range Plans. Complete reports for submission. Prepare meeting agendas and distribute to

the committee members. Person will have frequent contact with Committee

representatives, local elected officials, state and federal government officials and the

general public. Proficient on computer. good oral and written communication skills.

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in Community and Regional Planning,

Transportation Planning or related field. Experience is desired but not required.
